DIFFERENT THINGS

DIFFERENT THINGS

What we did today and meant to do
Are different things completely ─ human plans
Cannot foresee all contingencies.
We can be grateful, though, and pillow our heads,
Satisfied that God is patient and kind,
That we felt grace appear to lift our eyes
Beyond the moment to glimpse the rise of hope.
Such sight relieves the mind and steels the heart.
